Original Oil Painting Sunflowers and Peaches

Sunflowers and Peaches

12" x 12"

Here is a still life with three of my favorite things to paint: sunflowers, peaches and copper. It took many photos to get a good image to post. The weather here is really up and down. One day it is 85 sunny and muggy and the next 62 and raining.

Original Oil Painting Cosmos Wild Flowers

Cosmos Wild Flowers

9" x 12"
Painted on ampersand gessobord.

I really like how the cherries have circle around to see the wild flowers. This is a very playful painting with dramatic lighting. The sparkle in the glass also has a very playful quality. Thanks for viewing my painting.
Which parts do you like? Comments are always appreciated.

Original Oil Painting Old World Still Life

Old World Still Life

12" x 12"

I painted this on a slightly rougher texture. I added a couple coats of gesso to the already gessobord leaving it rough. The paint was put on very thickly with sometimes many layers. I was trying to give it an old, vintage look. I was really happy with the way the copper and bowl turned out. The bright oranges added a nice contrast. I hope you like my antique way of painting?

Original Oil Painting Sunflowers and Tomatoes

Sunflowers and Tomatoes

16" x 20"
Painted on stretched canvas.

This is one of my larger paintings. I like this still life because of the variations of textures: glass, clay and copper. I added the tomatoes because I wanted a strong color on the left to balance the large golden sunflowers. There are a lot of strong items in this painting but they all play so well with each other. I really enjoyed painting this still life.

Original Oil Paintings Palm Trees for Mother's Day

Palm Trees for Mother's Day

10" x 10"
Painted on gessobord.

I painted these on request from my niece for a gift to my sister on mother's day. Maybe my niece is hinting at another vacation to Florida?

Original Oil Painting Retired Preacher

Retired Preacher

9" x 12"
Painted on ampersand gessobord.

Hands down this is the hardest portrait I have painted up til now. I had to paint with little dabs of color most of the time. The preacher has such a wonderful, rich, character face that I did not want to miss any of the rich colors. Because of all the red and warm colors I will wait to post it on daily paint works. It will take a couple weeks at least to dry.

Original Oil Painting Untitled Still Life

Romantic Flowers

12" x 12"

Here is my final touches added to my still life painting. I added a glow behind the left pot to connect it to the oranges and I also added a small leaf behind the rose so the single left did not look out of place. I got rid of some dirty colors and worked on the modelling of the left vase. Now I am happy with it. I hope you can tell the difference in the one below which was 90 % done. I am also happy that it photographed well.
