Original Oil Painting Beach Tree

Beach Tree

12" x 12"
Painted on gessobord.

This is my fourth assignment. I love how the sea breeze has twisted the branches around. My goal was to work with warm and cool planes on objects. The upward surfaces would reflect the cool sky and the downward surfaces would reflect the warmth of the sand. The vertical planes would reflect what is next to it. For example a rock: the upward or top would be a cool blue grey, the underneath of any over hang part of the rock would be painted a warm grey and the vertical or side surfaces would reflect the object near it. Of course there is always some exceptions.

Original Oil Painting Old Man of the Sea

Old Man of the Sea

12" x 12"

Sold
Here is a close-up.
I painted this for my class. All the time I was painting it, I thought of the movie: Old Man of the Sea. I hope it was ok to name my painting after a movie. If not I will probably change it to Old Man of the Sea with a Motor Boat. In the movie it was a row boat. I did add the sea gulls. I could not resist adding them.
