Original Oil Painting Rose Valley

Rose Valley

12" x 12"
Painted on Ampersand Gessobord.

Sold

This was a fun painting. It has been gloomy around here lately with all the clouds that I thought a bright painting of flowers would lift my spirits. I used a combination of photos to paint this. I painted it in a more stylistic way to give it more punch. The red vase symbolizes the human heart and the flowers are the joy the heart seeks. Everybody Needs Love!

Original Oil Painting Giant Yellow Rose

Giant Yellow Rose

Sold
12" x 12"
Painted on gessobord.
I tried to keep the thicker paint and crisper edges where I thought were the interesting edges and focal point. It was working pretty well until I decided the background color was yuck. I changed it to a purple-orche color and I like it 100% better. To bad I did not take a earlier photo with the original background but why? The background needed changing so I just got to it. Boy, that's a huge rose!

Original Oil Painting Three Pinks

Three Pinks

9" x 12"

Sold

I think G+ is working again. I am sorry if anyone did not receive a posting. In this painting, I am trying a layer technique Dan Edmundson taught in his master class. It is a technique that Richard Schmid uses so well. As you layer the background to create volume you add more paint. So the first layer is just scrubbed in. The next layer you add a little more paint but keep it some what light or should I say transparent. The top layer is more opaque and detailed but do not forget to let the other layer show through here and there.
